NEWS FROM REV. JAMES

Taters ‘N Talent:

You’re invited to join us for a night of fun, laughter, and entertainment for all, at our annual Taters ‘N Talent event on Sunday, March 16, 5 p.m., in Cartwright Hall.  The cost of the meal is $8 for adults; $6 for children 12 and under; $35 maximum per family.  All proceeds from the meal will go toward summer activities for the youth.

We have several people who have signed up so far to share their talents, but we are waiting for you to share yours!  If you, or your group, has been blessed with a talent, we would love to rejoice and to celebrate it with you.

If you have not had a chance to sign up to share your talent or to donate food items, and would like to do so, please see Rev. James Petty after the service this Sunday, or contact him through the church office.

Teacher Appreciation:

Join us during our worship services Sunday, March 9, as we lift up and pray for those volunteers who teach in Hazelwood Christian Church’s ministries.  During coffee fellowship, after the worship service, I encourage you to show them your appreciation, encourage them, and see how you may be able to help.

THIS SUMMER!

Mission Trip Meeting:

We are excited to announce that our 2014 youth mission trip will be in Washington DC, June 22 -27!  This is for our youth, ages 14 and older, and for any college students and adults wishing to participate or be a sponsor on the trip. There is a mandatory meeting on Sunday, March 9, 2014. All those who are interested must attend.  At least one parent, guardian, or representative must be present if your youth is planning on going.  We will meet in the East Room of the Fellowship House from 1 – 1:30 p.m., after our All-Youth Fellowship. This will be an informative meeting at which we will hand out the forms and permission slips needed for participation in this mission trip.

VBS Theme:

We are also excited about our 2014 VBS theme “WEIRD ANIMALS.”  Our children will learn that God filled this world with a lot of crazy creatures…including us.  When we feel weird, different, or even lost in a crowd—nothing compares to the extraordinary love of Jesus. Please mark your calendars for July 14-18 to bring your kids, the neighbor’s kids, and yourself as we learn Jesus’ love is one-of-a-kind!
