“Fifty-two years ago, on June 25, 1962, the US Supreme Court declared school-sponsored prayers were unconstitutional in the case Engel versus Vitale and therefore banned. In 1990, SYATP was started with the one simple act – prayer. Today, SYATP is still about students humbling themselves, turning to God, and interceding for their generation.
“This year’s theme is “Never Stop Praying, Especially for Others.” This theme is taken from Ephesians 6:18a. The verse follows Paul’s famous passage on the armor of God, challenging and encouraging Christ’s followers to stand strong in the Lord and to be His representatives to share the Good News of the Gospel.
“SYATP is Wednesday, September 24 @ 7 a.m., where Christian students gather around the flagpole in front of their school for prayer over each other, their teachers, their administrators, their communities, churches, and their nation.
“I encourage all our youth to commit to being at their flagpole to unite in Christ and in prayer for your generation. I encourage everybody else to be in prayer for these students during this time. They are our future generation of leaders. What better way than to see them globally embracing unity, across all denominations and beliefs, in prayer.”
