YOUTH NEWS 10-27-16

AYF (ALL YOUTH FELLOWSHIP)

One of the things that shaped me in my teenage years was Youth Sunday. To me, it was a joy, a privilege, and a chance to participate in the service in a different way. As I watched the youth plan the Youth Sunday service last week, I saw the same excitement in them that I remember experiencing.

Like last year, this year’s service has been planned, and will be presented, completely by our youth. For some of them, they are developing their gifts and talents. Others are stepping outside of their comfort zone and exploring new ways they can participate in the life of the church. Together they have developed a service that includes songs, scripture, and lessons that are meaningful to them.

Please join us on Sunday, November 13 and see how God is moving through our youth!

UPCOMING EVENTS & OPPORTUNITIES

We will meet at 4:30 p.m. this Sunday, October 30, in the Rotunda for our Youth Halloween Party. We will join the church at 6 p.m. to help with the Trunk-or-Treat. We will need some youth to help run the bounce house and to serve popcorn.

November 5 is the All Church Work Day. There is a lot that needs to be done to get our building and grounds ready for the Bazaar (one of our major fundraisers!) and other upcoming events. Make plans to join us on Saturday, November 5 at 9 a.m. (come early for donuts, coffee, and juice) as we work together to take care of what God has placed in our care. Please see the sign-up sheet in the Rotunda to let us know you’d like to help.

Youth help is also needed during our Bazaar on Saturday, November 12. The major areas we need your help are in running the festival games downstairs, selling concessions in Cartwright Hall, and getting everything ready for Sunday’s activities after the Bazaar is over. Please contact Rev. James Petty to see what opportunities are a good fit for you.
