MISSIONS & BENEVOLENCE UPDATE

CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES FOOD PANTRY

May 31-June 2 are Hazelwood’s days to work at the Food Pantry from 8:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Please consider helping out with this worthy community project. If you are able to help, contact Shirley Bookout at (765) 744-1207.

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP

Hazelwood Christian Church, though large, is not an island unto itself. We are a part of a great local neighborhood with many other churches, businesses, and homes. As a part of our neighborhood, it is our responsibility to strive to be good stewards, not only by caring for our own property, but also by helping to care for the neighborhood as a whole.

On Saturday, May 13, our Neighborhood Association has invited us all to take part in a Neighborhood Clean-Up. We will all gather together at Grace Lutheran Church, 610 N. Reserve St., at 7:30 a.m. Thrivent Financial will be providing coffee and donuts to get us started. Work will begin at the chosen sites at 8 a.m. and continue until noon, RAIN OR SHINE! Even the Muncie Sanitation District will be joining us, driving around with trucks for us to use to deposit trash.

DISBURSEMENTS

  • Motivate Our Minds, $400

The following organizations received a contribution of $300 from the Sulanke Trust:

  • Second Harvest
  • Special Olympics
  • Children’s Clothing Bank
  • Wayside Mission
  • Love Stuff, Inc. (provides stuffed animals for abused, neglected, or displaced children)

HAZELWOOD MISSIONS FAIR

The Missions & Benevolence Team is sponsoring a Missions Fair on Sunday, May 7. The local organizations represented include: Christian Ministries, A Better Way, Habitat for Humanity, Muncie Mission, Whitely Community, and YWCA. A representative from each of these organizations will be introduced during the morning worship and will be available during Coffee Fellowship to share more information about how their organization works and shares in the community. Please take the time to stop, ask questions, and meet these dedicated people.

WINNIE’S KIDS

During the month of May, we will be accepting donations to help ‘Winnie’s Kids’ in Kenya. Each donation received will be matched, up to a total of $1,000, from the Missions & Benevolence Sulanke Trust. Please mark all contributions ‘Winnie’s Kids,’ place it in either a pink or pew envelope, and add it to the offering plate during Sunday morning worship (if writing a check, it would greatly help our bookkeeper if you write a separate check from your regular offering). We will present Winnie with our offerings on ‘Kenya Day,’ Sunday, June 18. There are great needs in Kenya, so please prayerfully consider how you can help ‘Winnie’s Kids.’
