YOUTH NEWS 8-3-17

BACK TO SCHOOL POOL PARTY

What better way to kick off a new school year than a pool party! Shirley Bookout has graciously invited the Hazelwood Youth to her home for All-Youth Fellowship and a Pool Party, so mark your calendars for August 13 from Noon-3 p.m. We will talk about upcoming AYF events and plans, then it’s all about the food and fun! Hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Please bring a snack to share and anything you need for swimming (don’t forget the sunscreen!). Sign up in the Rotunda if you are planning on attending, so we can be sure there is plenty of food to go around!

AYF (ALL-YOUTH FELLOWSHIP)

All-Youth-Fellowship is getting back into full swing! After our Pool Party on August 13, we will continue meeting every other Sunday through November 19, then meet on the first two Sundays in December. We’ll gather in Cartwright Hall for lunch at 11:30 a.m. After we’ve had our fill, we’ll continue in fellowship with Bible Study and activities until 1 p.m.

All youth, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, are invited to join us as we take a look at how our faith impacts our lives and our community through Bible study, movies, and service projects. If you have any questions about AYF, contact Rev. James in the church office.

Keep an eye on this section of the newsletter for details on upcoming events!

YOUTH MEAL SIGN-UP

All-Youth Fellowship will be starting back up August 27 and will run every other Sunday through November 19. We will also meet on the first two Sundays in December. We are looking for individuals, families, or groups interested in providing meals for our fellowship. It doesn’t have to be fancy, simple is best! In the past, the youth have enjoyed sloppy joes prepared at home, cold cut sandwiches picked up at the store, pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches prepared in the church kitchen, and meals catered from restaurants like Fazoli’s. Regardless of what was served, the youth have always been appreciative for the meal and those who provided it. There will be a sign-up sheet in the Rotunda over the next couple of Sundays if you are interested in providing a meal. Please contact Rev. James in the church office for more information or if you have any questions.
