YOUTH NEWS 8-2-18

MISSION TRIP PRESENTATIONS

Our Youth had a wonderful time serving at Give Kids the World and bonding together through our experiences. This year, you have two opportunities to hear our stories:

1) Our Youth Stockholders’ Dinner on Sunday, August 5 after worship. New this year, those who purchased shares of Youth Stock will get to sit back, have dinner, and enjoy an in-depth presentation by our youth and adult participants. During the presentation, we will share our experiences with you, and answer any questions you have about our trip and what Give Kids the World means to us. You’ll get the exclusive answers to some rather intriguing questions such as “What has become a reoccurring tradition we wish we could avoid even though it always makes our adventure more exciting and adds to our learning experience?” and “Is that one of our youth sponsors in the back of a police car?”

If you’d like to join us by becoming a Youth Stockholder, it’s not too late to purchase stock at $10 per share, just contact the church office!

2)  A brief presentation during worship on Sunday, August 12This will be a rather “short and sweet” presentation by our Youth, during which we will share the impact Give Kids the World has had on our lives.

We look forward to sharing our adventures with our Hazelwood family and hope you will join us!

ALL-YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

All-Youth Fellowship is gearing up for another great year! After our Back-to-School Pool Party on August 12, we will continue to meet every other Sunday through November 19, then meet on the first 3 Sundays in December as we work on our Annual Christmas Box Project.

All youth, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, are invited to join us for AYF as we take a look at how our faith impacts our lives and our community through Bible study, movies, and service projects. For each meeting, we’ll start by gathering in Cartwright Hall for lunch at 11:30 a.m. After we’ve had our fill, we’ll continue in fellowship with Bible Study and activities until 1 p.m. We will meet as one big group for some activities and will break up into separate groups for elementary, middle school, and high school when appropriate. If you have any questions about AYF, contact Rev. James in the church office.

*Keep on eye on the Youth News section of future newsletters for details on upcoming Youth events!

YOUTH SPONSORS AND TEACHERS

Our Youth Ministries cover kids from birth to twelfth grade and include things such as teaching lessons, playing games, mission & service projects, fellowship, fundraisers, and many other events. If you have a passion for our youth and these ministries and would like to join our team, please contact Rev. James in the church office or by email at hccjpetty@gmail.com.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL POOL PARTY

The summer has been speeding by, and school will be starting soon. The good news is that means our All-Youth Fellowship (AYF) and other activities are starting back up, and there’s no better way to kick off the new school year than with a pool party and cookout!

Several of our families have a membership at the Catalina Pool, and they have been working on the details to host our Back-to-School Pool Party there. Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 12 after the worship service. We will talk about upcoming AYF events and plans, then it’s all about the food and fun! Hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Please bring a snack to share and anything you need for swimming (don’t forget the sunscreen!).

RSVP to Rev. James if you are planning on attending so we can be sure there is plenty of food to go around.
