I have a couple of things for you. The first is we were able to have a 12 Disciples Gathering on September 3, and I was energized by our being together. We’ve been apart during this time of the pandemic, and it was so nice just to be together. Twelve of us met outside, with masks and a little bit of distance, but we were together and the conversation and the fellowship were encouraging to me. We’ve missed this, and so I want to offer more opportunities. Let’s gather again for this type of gathering. I’m planning on offering two more, on Wednesday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.. Once again, since we’re limiting these to 12 participants, I need you to contact me or the church office to sign up. If you take this opportunity to gather, I think you’ll be encouraged and uplifted.
The second is, I want to offer a book study. Last Spring I offered several Zoom-based Bible Studies. These were well attended and were great experiences. I’d like to offer another study in October, but this time it will be a book study. I want us to study Becoming an Anti-racist Church by Joseph Barndt. These last few months have shown us we have a lot of progress to make in terms of confronting racism, and I believe churches can lead the way. I want to spend the Wednesdays in October studying this book. We’ll gather via Zoom at 7 p.m. on the Wednesdays in October (7, 14, 21, & 28). The books are $20 (or you could order your own), and it’s ok if you don’t want to read the book and just want to participate in the conversation. Let me know if you’d like to be a part of this, too.
Grace & peace,
Jason Jones
