MESSAGE FROM THE MODERATOR 10-22-20

The Annual Meeting will be on Sunday, November 15th at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Communion will be celebrated along with other worship elements, and church leadership will be approved.

People needing help accessing via Zoom (video or telephone option) must do a trial run Tuesday, November 10th at 7 p.m. Elders are to find out which of their sheep needs tech help. If you have not yet talked with your Shepherd and need help, please email Marianna at hccmgill@gmail.com or call the church office 765-282-5969.

Helpful meeting information:

  • Voting approval of the slate of Officers and At-large Board members, Elders, Deacons, and Trustees will be conducted.
  • Voting approval of the 2021 Budget will occur.
  • The Gills have established call-in capabilities for members preferring or needing that option. While video attendees will offer a show of hands to vote, call-in members will give an audible response if they so choose.
  • Only the Treasurer’s report will be broadcast. Tony will provide a visual while Woody reports on the main points. All other reports are to be emailed to Stefanie by November 2nd, and Marianna will post this information on our website by Friday, November 6th.
  • Rationale for 10 a.m. meeting time: We’ve already established a base of participation with “Zoom Church” at that time, and it would let staff and tech crew concentrate on preparing the meeting rather than doing double-duty with a full-fledged service.

COVID-19 Protection Plan Team update:

Hazelwood continues to be cautious due to the vulnerability of many of our members. The possibility of a STAGE 1.5 is pending, due to increased hospital visits (of all types) reported by the Delaware County Health Department as well as an increase of COVID-19 cases in our county and Indiana in general. The possibility of a STAGE 1.5 is pending, due to increased hospital visits (of all types) reported by the Delaware County Health Department as well as an increase of COVID-19 cases in our county and Indiana in general.  Team members: Rev. Jason Jones, Tony Gill, Jeff Heavilon, Bob Weller, Ann Wolfe.

STAGE 1.5 pending:

  • Church gatherings of up to 12 people would be allowed. Social distancing and wearing masks would be mandatory. Participants must be symptom-free, etc. If older than 65, please use your own judgment.
  • There are “singing” masks available now with a cavity area (like the n95 have) that allow choirs and praise bands to sing and be safe doing so if worn properly and still maintaining social distancing. Our two groups could record or livestream from the Sanctuary.
  • These small-group activities could serve as a segue for modified on-site worship.
  • Use of the building by non-Hazelwood groups of 12 people or fewer will be decided on an individual basis.
